L. Alberto Paez . Biographic Data.

Born in Colombia South America, Alberto graduated from the University of Quindio in 1984 with a BA in Educational Technology .
He has been the recipient of a number awards for his work in visual Arts:
The most promising young artist at the Salon of Artist from the Viejo Caldas at 15 and in 1984 a second place in the Poster Design contest for the city of Hayward, the same year He moved to Northern California where continued his training in different Medias; TV Production at Laney College in Oakland , Journalism at Mission Community College in San Francisco, Photography at Chabot College in Hayward and Computer Multimedia at Ohlone College in Fremont in 1992 .
Since his very early years He developed a talent for visualizing information using both still images (icons, pictures, photographs) and moving images (animation, movies and video).
Not to his surprise, recently He diagnose himself as a *1."functional Dyslexic" after being unable to read during his school years. "As a Colombian, it is a shame not having read Gabriel Garcia Marquez's (One Hundred years of Solitude); "I only read the first and last pages of the chapter required".
Interestingly enough He found engaging McLuhan's "The medium is the Massage" who helped him not only in the analysis on media but to realize the importance of his visual talent.
Other books He read, "The Hite Report" (Shere Hite)(on women's sexuality), "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" (John Gray) *2 : "A book for everyone in a relationship or expecting one in his lifetime", and "Couplehood" (Paul Reiser)
Alberto has been working his way out of dyslexia by teaching himself programming as well as reading other books on Media and women, two subjects for which He lives passionately.

In his recess Althought for a number of years Alberto worked as a writer (sports and art comentaries) for different publications both in Colombia and the Bay Area, lately, He has been making his first steps writing poetry as his granfather did. (self published poet Alfonso Cano) .

At the moment, Luis Alberto is teaching the Intro to Multimedia and Director classes at Silicon Valley College in Fremont, at the same time He TA's at the San Francisco State University Multimedia Studies Program.

*1. Dyslexia : As oppose to the general concept, Dyslexia is not an illness, is rather a tendency to relay too heavily on the visual memory, causing the brain to under use the retention of concepts and ideas; when taken to the extreme, this can cause problems during early developing .
Great artists thru history has been Dyslexic, Michael Angelo at the top of the list.
